Music Video // Final Version

Changes:

This is the final version of our music video. We decided to change the club scene up a bit, and add a random strobe lighting rainbow effect as we felt something was missing from this section. Also while editing, we accidentally re-arranged the clips at this part, so they were no longer in the correct order, but we felt this made it look more frantic and way more enjoyable to look at, so we decided to keep it. We also were told we used this wrong version of our song, as this was an radio edited version, so we looked for the correct version as it dips in volume sometimes to match the real artists music video, which at times didn't work for our music video. So we corrected this.

Final thoughts:

I am very pleased with the overall turnout of this final version, I love what my group has achieved and believe this is the best we have done so far.

Music Video // third draft

Changes:

This is the third draft to our music video. We have now added in the artist name, title of the song and the name of the record company copyright at the end. We also added a shaking effect to the multi-coloured strobe lighting effect part to make it seem wild and hectic. This has also been done in the club scene, but it very minimal.

Thoughts:

Overall, I am very pleased with the outcome and what we have achieved with this music video. I feel we may need to add some more important changes to this draft to lead to our final draft.

Music Video // second draft

This is the second draft to our music video, featuring improvements. This now features the new and improved job scene, where the Ricky Rabbit attends a job interview. The location has now changed to a school staff room, giving a more professional look and not having the horrible classroom in the background. Also, this now includes the club scene, where Ricky Rabbit goes to the club to dance the night away and him walking into the club doors, to make it more authentic.

The good:
The club scene looks very real, it looks like it has been filmed in an actual club due to the positioning and the lighting makes it look packed and amazing. Also, we as a group love the new job scene. Before we hated the classroom featuring in the back, we felt it spoilt the professional look of the entire music video so we just had to re-shoot it to meet up with our extremely high standards. So far, so good.

The bad:
We wanted the outside of the club to look relatively dark, as it's common knowledge that people go clubbing in the night. We decided to film during the day and then will try to make it darker in post production, but forgot in this draft so will have to do it for the next.

Overall, this music video is coming along pretty well.

February Schedule

Here is what I intend to do over the course of February. It is mostly editing and blogging, due to us wanting to re-shoot the interview scene to make it look more professional. Also, everything is due on Valentines Day, so I need to make sure I blog and edit the video to completion.

First draft // social media feedback

I posted my music video onto Twitter in an attempt to receive feedback and responses. Those who responded do fit into the target audience for Scott Garcia, so this feedback is very useful. Here is what they said:

There wasn't any proper constructive criticism here, but receiving such good responses shows how our video is on the right track, and most importantly, appeals to my target audience.

First draft // feedback

This is the feedback we received throughout the feedback of our first draft. As you can see, we did receive a lot of positive feedback. With some even saying they like "Everything really" and " good pace".

Some of the things that need developing is that we need to hold on the rabbit signs need to last a little bit longer as the audience need to be able to read them. Also, we were advised to add colour to the strobe lighting effect part of the music video, and make it "proper mental".

We have taken this advise on board, and we have decided we will change the colour of the strobe part, making it look like a rainbow of colours. We also have decided that it would be good to make the signs last longer so people can understand why they are there.

Shooting // re-shooting and outside the club

Today, we decided to re-shoot the job scene due to it looking atrocious and disgusting. We decided to use the staff room in the school department as this has the right look and feel, due to the equipment and the spacing within the room. We also have decided to shoot the final part of our music video, which features Kate as the rabbit running into the club - a vital piece of the video.

The good:
The new job scene location is vastly superior to the last, it looks more professional and definitely looks as if it was a real job interview. I like this new turn out, and continues to make our video look professional. I also like the turn out of the outside the club scene, as we was worried that it may get the club name in it and may get into trouble but we didn't and it all went well.

The bad:
There is nothing bad so far, just hope it looks good for the editing stage.

Music Video // first draft

This is my groups first draft for our music video. There are still some clips that are missing from the video, but we are planning on shooting them very soon.

The good:
I live the overall outcome of this first draft, our video narrative is very unique and entertaining and the result of the video came out far better than I anticipated

The bad:
The only bad thing is that we need to make the edits go more with the beat, and we need to re-shoot the job scene, as we feel it doesn't look realistic and ruins the amazing other parts of the video.

But as a whole, I am very impressed.

Music video plan // club scene

Music Video // Club Scene on MindMup

Here is the plan for our club scene shoot. We need various equipment, people and we will be using our schools drama room for the location. Everything is detailed above.

First draft // screening

Today we screened our music video to the class. The overall attitude from everyone was that our music is good, with even some saying that it's the best they have seen so far. We were very impressed with the feedback, and took all critics on board and will utilise them to make our video that much better.

We were quite anxious at first, as we thought some scenes would be too much, and some people may not understand what is actually going on, but everyone seemed to enjoy it and said they would definitely watch it again and again, which is something we set out to achieve from the start.

Shooting // Around the area

Today we shot parts of our music video around our local area and in a part of the school. We shot the running home scene from London, inside the rabbits house where he goes to cut his ear off, finding a job and going to that job interview.

The good:
The running home scene and inside the home scene went very well. We were concerned about the lighting, but this doesn't seem to be an issue as we have changed the colour scheme of all the clips. My favourite is the ear cutting scene, it adds a sense of humour to the video, as it is so ridiculous and over the top, which is what our video is all about.

The bad:
The school job interview scene didn't go as planned. We wanted to use a room, but it was sadly occupied. As a last minute thought, and due to having to screen next week, we decided to go ahead and film it to give people a rough idea. We don't like the place we filmed as it doesn't look real and looks like it has just been set up in a classroom. We will be re-shooting this soon.

Music video // props

There is a scene within the music video where our character "The Rabbit" is running home and stumbles across a club promotional poster. He picks it up and decides that he wants to go to this club. So, I decided to create the poster that the rabbit will pick up and look at.

We also saw the opportunity to promote Scott Garcia in the music video, placing him as the celebrity guest who will be hosting the club night, as he also is the DJ in the club scene that comes later on in the music video, so it makes perfect sense.

We opted to go down Scott Garcia's Ibiza style roots and created the fictional name "Eskobar" for the club.

Digipak poster // audience poll results

Above are the voting results based on my target audiences response to my digipak designs. I asked them to view all the different variants to my digipaks and then decide which they feel is best.

In last place was digipak 4, receiving no votes whatsoever:

Digipak 3 received a single vote, so therefore will not be considered any longer:

Digipak 5 did slightly better, receiving 5 votes, but not enough to be my final digipak:

Digipak 2 also received 5 votes, but again not enough to win this poll:

In second place was digipak 1, which received an outstanding 12 votes, but just missed out in becoming the final digipak:

The winner of the poll was digipak 5, with 13 votes. This will now be my final digipak design:

January Schedule

This is what I intend to do over the course of the month of January. Our video features quite a few different scenes, so we decided to do different scenes on different days to make it easier for us, and that way we can edit the music video as we film, leading to it being made quicker.

This month we also have to screen our first draft, so we are going to try film as much as we can to show to the class, and of course, blog as I go along too.
